So what do we know so far?

Well it seems so far the iphone will be keeping its 3g design with the emphasis on performance changes. The CPU is said to be upgraded from 400mhz to 600mhz, an increase from 128mb ram to 256, a 16/32 GB storage capacity and it seems the camera will be getting a nice upgrade to 3.2 megapixel as opposed to the original semi useless 2 megapixel. Which is nice as we are starting to see 8 Megapixel and above regular phones

The new Iphone will also ship with a new OS but is rumored to be keeping to the original design of the current OS. Most like some more stability upgrades and program tweaks, we would also love to see some copy/paste functionality while your at it apple.

One of the more interesting rumors is that there may be a OLED (organic light emitting diode) screen. This would be a major step forward and make current iphone users consider upgrading. however if Apple goes this route, there may be an issue with screen life as current OLED technology has a much lower lifespan than LCD at present. However the battery life would be greatly increased so there's a fine line to toy with here. There is also talk of a 800×480p display which would push the iphone into HD territory. With HTC Touch HD is already boasting a 800x480p screen and blackberry storm sits at 480x360, Apple needs to step up to the plate with this one.

Things we would like to see:

* Copy paste functionality

* Replaceable battery

* Flash for the camera, the current capture in low light is dreadful.

* Multi Tasking, allowing programs to run in the background.

* MP3 ringtone support, sure there are apps out there that allow you to do this but it should be built in standard.

* Video recording.

* Ability to edit word and excell documents.

* Direct Itunes Access.

For those without an iphone at present and are looking at getting one this should be exciting news. for those with one already, it will only be the hardcore fans forking out the big dollars to take advantage of the upgrades. We will bring you more news and rumors as the come to hand.

BenQ Joybee GP1 Pocket Projector

The first range of "pocket" projectors from BenQ have been announced and should be hitting the shores shortly.



The GP1 Pocket projector is a nifty little gadget. with a small but neat 858 x 600 resolution, 100 ANSI lumens with a 2,000:1 contrast ratio. Also included is a built in 2 watt speaker and VGA / Component / Composite inputs. Also only weighing in at 1.4 pounds it is very portable.



Of course your going to be paying for the compact size. current RRP sits at $499. Not so cheap, but its pretty cool none the less.

Palm Pre

The Latest release from Palm Pre is pretty impressive. Possible one of the best hand held devices since the Iphone.



The Palm Pre has so far been receiving rave reviews. Most reviewers boasting about the OS interface and functionality. The design is nice, simple, and effective. Although not as thin as the Iphone its very compact for a slider. The Keyboard layout is a QWERTY configuration, similar to recent palm models. The slider is vertical which makes typing one handed much easier than a horizontal slider phone. Also inclued is an accelerometer

Palm will also be hosting application through their app store, similar to Apples apps store. Only approved apps will be available to users. SDK will also be available to all users

The Palm comes at a hefty price tag of $849.

Sharp AQUOS SHOT 933SH 10 Megapixel Camera Phone

The "Camera Phone" has been taken to a new level by Sharp. Due for release on japans softbank mobile and shortly there after in the US the Sharp AQUOS SHOT 933SH is an impressive piece of equipment.



Companies such as Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG and Nokia are still battling to release a 8 megapixel camera phone, sharp has release their mighty Goliath. Boasting a 10 megapixel shooter sitting behind a flip-and-swivel 3.3-inch WVGA touchscreen display,
Internal memory sits at 16GB. Another nifty feature is the touch interface that lets you choose the point of focus (usually a subject) that can then be tracked as it moves.

No RRP has been announced just yet. but you probably want to start saving quiet a few pennies if you want one on release.

LG X120 Netbook

The next installment netbook range from LG is finally here. The good news is it looks fairly promising.



The first thing that stands out is the new sleek look. LG has come out with a nice eye catching design and color scheme that screams contemporary design but is still subtle and will sit in the corner quiet enough to not merit too much attention. With a fine Matte finish your going to find fingerprint smudges are a worry of the past. Inside you will however find a glossy finish and gloss screen, which actually works fairly well and doesnt clash with the exterior too much.



There is plenty of room on the keyboard for a netbook. Too often netbooks fail in the comfortable typing / navigating department. however LG has managed to squeeze every last inch of space out of the keyboard to give a fairly roomy design. 3 USB ports for additional devices is also a breath of fresh air. You will also find a SD card slot and an expandable memory bay of up to 1GB. a 3G version is also available in some countries, however not in the US

The X120 ships with Windows XP, but one of LG's biggest assets is its Splashtop-based Smart-On interface, which gets its own dedicated power button to allow for quick and easy access. The interface boots in a matter of seconds and gives you access to a few essential applications, including a web browser, a music player, a photo browser, an instant messaging app, Skype, and even a basic games application that links to some online games.

The X120 hosts a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, Windows XP and a 10-inch WSVGA screen as standard. The netbook offers a 1.3 megapixel webcam for video chatting or conferencing, while LG You-Cam software allows users to get creative with unique photo snapshots. SRS WOW HD and TruSurround XT bring stereo effect sound to music and video. The screen’s LED Backlight delivers a high-resolution picture that is clearer and brighter, which is not only easier on tired eyes but saves energy, too. There is improved battery life, at 3.5 hours for the 3 cell battery and 7 hours for the 6 cell battery.

Overall its not too different from whats already out there on the market. but its certainly right up there in design and functionality and should be at the top of any ones choice in this range of netbooks.

Solar Powered Phone - Samsung "Blue Earth"

This fantastic design from Samsung alows the green energy of the sun to charge and operate the samsung "blue earth" mobile phone.




The phone is designed to resemble the shape of a shiny pebble, and uses a small solar panel to provide power.

“This phone demonstrates our small but meaningful commitments for the future and our environment,” said JK Shin, an executive vice president at Samsung.

Blue Earth is made from recycled plastic and features a special “Eco Mode” that users can access with a single click to wring the maximum energy use from the device.

A full solar charge of around 10 to 14 hours will provide enough power for around four hours of talk time. The handset can still be charged normally using a conventional plug, with the solar panels used to top up the battery during use.

It also has a built-in pedometer to help users to measure how much smaller their carbon footprint is when walking rather than driving.

Blue Earth goes on sale in the UK later this year and Samsung did not give any details about price or network partners. However, sources hinted that the handset was likely to be priced at the upper end of the market.

Samsung’s eco-friendly phone was not the only solar-powered mobile at the show. LG also unveiled a prototype solar-powered handset, but did not say when the device would go on sale.

Samsung also launched the first mobile phone capable of recording high-definition footage. The Omnia HD boasts an ultra-sharp 3.7in touch-screen, and can capture and play back high-definition video shot in the 720p format, which puts it on a par with some modern camcorders.

Although it has been released for a few months now, we can expect to see this be the way mobile devicing goes. with solar panels becoming smaller and more efficient, laptops and other portable media should soon be following suit.

Zune HD Details

Teamxbox has let loose with a slew of details on the rumored Zune HD, some of which they have reportedly been sitting on since last August. According to their sources, the ZuneHD will be a convergent device, incorporating some of the gaming features of the Xbox and the multimedia features of the Zune.

Codenamed xYz to highlight its position between the Xbox and the Zune, the new device is rumored to have a large WVGA touchscreen display and “hardware features not found on any handheld on the market.” The Zune HD will most definitely not be a phone and will not directly compete with Microsoft’s Windows Mobile offerings, it has been said. The portable entertainment device will supposedly feature the graphical user interface of the New Xbox Experience and will be a “Live Anywhere” device, integrating the online services offered by Microsoft Live, Xbox, Zune and the recently announced Sky marketplace.

Interestingly enough, teamxbox claim that their sources on the ZuneHD hardware coincide with the recently leaked “chassis 1″ specification which include an ARM 6+ processor, Open GL ES 2.0 graphics HW (can we say Nvidia Tegra), 256MB plus of RAM, min of 1GB internal memory, 3.5″+ WVGA or FWVGA touchscreen display with multi-touch, aGPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and more. If this conglomerate of recent rumors hold true, then the ZuneHD may turn the PMP world upside down if and when it launches.

Alpha 680 Android Powered Netbook Picture Leaked

Hp, Dell and Asus are just some of the big names that have been rumored to be releasing Android powered netbooks in the near future. However a Chinese manufacturer name Skytone is the first to have a working prototype for all to see.



The system specifications state an ARM11 533Mhz CPU, a 7inch 800x480 display, 128MB of DDR2 RAM (option to expand to 256), a 1GB solid state drive (also expandable up to 4GB), slot for SD cards, 2 USB ports, Wi-Fi, keyboard and touchpad.

The unit is very compact at only 8.5 inches long and 6 inches wide, 1.2inches thick and weighing a tiny 1.5lbs, it smaller than the average netbook and larger than a mobile phone. Expected to launch in Q3 2009 its sure to grab plenty of attention. Estimates at this stage put RRP at $250.

Activision Announces DJ Hero - First Pictures

Pictures of the newest installment from activisons DJ hero, have finally filtered through to the online world. Details are still a little sketchy about exactly how to use the new controller, but it looks pretty straight forward.




If Guitar hero's success is anything to go by, the new DJ hero has big shoes to fill. So far the Guitar Hero franchise has sold over 25million units, which is incredibly impressive for any game manufacturer.



After jumping on the Guitar Hero bandwagon this weekend, myself and a few mates headed to the bottle shop, then to a local retailer and spent the following nights strumming, drumming and screaming our way to virtual rock stardom. Waking on monday blurry eyed wondering where the heck the weekend just went. I have to say the hype is worth it, such a great unique idea finally has breathed some new life into the sometimes stale gaming world for the casual gamers, not seen since the gimmick filled unique nintendo wii was released.

The news of a new Hero series came as Activision Blizzard, the megapublisher formed out of the merger of California-based Activision and the games unit of French conglomerate Vivendi, announced more than $189m (£125m) in profit for the past three months.

Guitar Hero fans will be salivating on the release details for the new DJ Hero no doubt. hopefully we will have more news shortly.

Lacie has announced significant advancement in its two recognized award winning network storage solutions. The systems are referred to as 2big Network and the LaCie 5big Network have undergone upgrades to include performance, more features, and above all extreme capacity expansion.

Users will be able to play media from the NAS through devices such as the Xbox and PS3. If thats not enough it is also compatible with iTunes server to provide enough storage for the most hardcore music enthusiasts.

If you looking to extend you display to squeeze that extra window or displaying a couple of windows at a time there's a new kid on the Block. Harmon Kardon Releases its First Blu Ray Player

One of the best brands in home theater and television, Harmon Kardon will be releasing its first Blu-ray player, the BDP 10, sometime in May for $940.



The BDP will pu out 1080p/24 video, and will also support BD-Live and BonusView capabilities for Blu-ray movies that contain that extra online content. Not only will the player have the standard analog audio outputs, but also it will come equipped with coaxial and optical audio outputs, HDMI v1.3a, a composite video output, USB ports, and an Ethernet jack.

When It Rains, It Pours. Kindle DX details Flood the Internet

Details on the new Kindle DX have flooded the net over the last couple of days. We have grabbed all the inside information out there about the newest Kindle System.



This super sized model of the original boasts a 9.7-inch electronic ink display, 5-way navigation button and a QWERTY keyboard. The new Kindle DX will is rumored to have improved web browsing, the ability to add annotations in addition to notes and highlights and native PDF reader. In addition to newspaper and periodicals, the Kindle DX is designed to support textbooks and, according to the Wall Street Journal, a special edition packed with pre-installed textbooks for chemistry, computer science and a freshman seminar is being released as part of a college trial.
At least six schools are believed to be involved in a "pilot program" in which they'll hand out Kindles to incoming freshmen and allow them to get textbooks on the devices. Pace University, Case Western Reserve University, Reed College, Arizona State University, Princeton University, and the Darden School at the University of Virginia are the institutions that have been named.

Rumor has it the NEw York Times will have subscriptions for $9.95 / month. a nice price cut from their current $13.99 a month price.

This ones for the ultimate geeks, the Binary Watch. The watch face contains 10 blue LEDs that are used to indicate the numbers of the binary sequence (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32) and the values of the lighted LEDs are added to determine the time. There are two rows of LEDs - the top row for the hours and the bottom row for the minutes.

It even comes with a user manual on how to read the time, but im sure anyone buying this kind of watch should be able to cope without the training manual

Nokia's New E71x Phone

The Latest release from Nokia has just hit stores, specifically amazon.com
This model is the latest design away from conventional phone layouts with a full qwerty keyboard optimized for email. The moment you see it you will be thinking along the lines of blackberry style design.

If your using Microsoft exchange at work you can access mail for exchange mobile client, as well as calender contacts and tasks and one of the best features, the ability to download word excel and PDF files.

Duracell has announced its new compact USB device car charger.
Designed to plug into the DC cigarette outlet on any car, the Duracell charger will charge most devices that can charge via USB including ipod and iphone to name a few.

The One 751 sits at only 1 inch thick and supports a full 5.1 channel audio via dolby compatible headphones. Connections include 3 USB ports, VGA output, and Ethernet.

The Battery life is claimed at up to 4 hours operating time, with the option of a 6 cell 8 hour battery as an extra. Currently this unit is available in white red blue or black

This unit will ship with Windows XP Home edition as standard. With the launch starting sometime this month prices are targeted to start at $518.

Archos 2 Media Player

The next generation to the Archos 105 Personal Media Player hit shops in the last couple of days. The Archos 2 has been available for pre-order for some time, but it has just now become available for purchase via the Archos website. The product is expected to ship shortly.


You can get this little beauty in 8 GB, and 16 GB. All navigation will be carried out on the units sleek 1.8 inch LCD. There is also a microSD slot for memory expansion which is a critical missing link in the apple portable media ipods and iphones. Currently the market should be expecting this unit in either White or Black, although there is talk of a funky purple design that may also come onto the market. Another feature of the Archos 2 is voice recording, and will be offered for $60 (8 GB) or $100 (16 GB). Archos are best known for releasing quality portable media for a much lower cost than the big competitors.

Unfortunately it is not compatible with AAC media file types such as those downloaded from Itunes, but the standard WMA and MP3 formats are available.
The Archos boasts 10 hours of continual playback and can be charged via USB which is always handy.

We are not going to see the Archos taking top sales over apple or zunes portable players but it should be a fantastic cheaper alternative. No doubt you will be seeing them on the street shortly.

NASA's new "E-Nose" can detect brain cancer cells

NASA's newly developed "E-Nose" device, primarily intended to monitor air quality, has found a secondary function in being able to detect the scent of cancerous brain cells.



Originally designed for air quality monitoring on the Space Shuttle Endeavour and the International Space Station, this secondary role could be developed into future early detection of brain cancer. Brain Mapping Foundation, City of Hope Cancer Center, and Jet Propulsion Laboratory are all now investing research to develop technology based on NASA's E-nose that will one day lead to a simple, accurate detection system by "smelling" the difference between healthy brain cells and cancerous ones.

Worlds Fastest Camera Revealed

Researchers at the University of California in Los Angeles have developed a new imaging system called Steam, or Serial Time-Encoded Amplified imaging. Billed as the"fastest imaging system ever devised," it works by carefully manipulating so-called super continuum laser pulses, for imaging fast-moving or random events, such as communication between neurons.

It replaces current flashing technology by disbursing an incredibly quick fast laser pulse, which then gets stretched in time and detected electronically, for a "shutter speed" of half a billionth of a second. This camera can capture over six million images a second.According to the head of the research team, Bahram Jalali of UCLA, the next step is to improve the spatial resolution of the technology so they can take crystal clear pictures of the inner structure of cells. The team is also working on a similar technique for 3-D imaging.

Imation Announces Its Two New SSD Range

Imation have announced two new lines of Solid State Disks or (SSD's) The lines will be the S-Class and the M-Class and are available in 32GB- 64GB-and 128GB capacities.

For the budget-minded consumer, the M-Class boasts a 150MB/s read speed and 90MB/s write speed which is on par with current models, and comes in a sleek black oxide finish priced starting at around $189. If you would like to splash out and step up a notch, the S-Class reads at 130MB/s and writes 120MB/s speeds and comes in stainless steel finish. Quiet a nice performance it is boasting i must say. However you will be paying for it at around $659.
